Connecting the Past and the Present

The passage of time is fascinating. A never-ending stream of fleeting moments, experiences, and memories combine to create our lives and stories. History is the same: an enlargement of our collective memories and moments over time. The Ancient Egyptians. The Renaissance. The Byzantines. The Tang Dynasty. Empires, libraries, towns, and cities... they are created, built, they thrive, and then they fall. Nothing is certain in life but the beginning and the end. It is one of my greatest passions in life to chase these cycles in the history books and pull them back into our awareness. I am inspired by remnants of our past: crumbling Romanesque arches, fading parchment papers, ancient texts from faraway lands. I'm inspired by history and I strive to keep it alive.

My mission as an artist is to seek visual expression for the feelings and emotions I experience. I strive to explore the fleeting moment, to express the rapture of the beauty around me, and to anchor it all in the past. I believe we must keep the past alive: art, music, language, stories. To this end, I teach and study music and art, and I actively support historical organizations in my immediate community.
We learn from history. We are inspired by it. We must keep it alive!
